Water mains no longer contain lead but – particularly in pre-1970’s properties – communication & supply pipes may still be lead.
In the past, lead was widely used for everything from plumbing to electronic soldering. But it’s now known that over time, exposure to lead can affect health, with the greatest risk being to children under six and to pregnant mums.
As a result, the government has banned the use of lead in many products, and it hasn’t been used for water pipes since 1970.
If you suspect that the drinking water supply in your building contains lead pipework then we have a number of different solutions that could help, please give us a call and we’ll be happy to advise.
